political science optional-performance

the paper was different, keeping in with the general trend....i dont know how i performed vis-a-vis others....but here is a blow by blow account of the attempt........
the target was the first stumbling block...most sites quote a pre 2006 cut off of 95+,but there was no negative marking then.in gs too the target is said to be 85 to 90+,for similar reasons.....
however i read shubhra ranjan(teaches polsci at vajirams) blog where she said 70 was safe for polsci this year....i had kept that as my minimum target as even i felt looking at the difficulty level that that ought to be par....its much like cricket...chasing too huge a score we lose by a lot of runs,so senible targets mean a lot of unnecessary tension avoided..i planned a score around 75(187.25) in polsci ideally, with a matching 75 in gs...total would be 262.25 which being more than 260 i assumed would be safe
next-the exam.in the exam my plans went for a toss because i found the paper a googly...i was only sure of around 55-60 and 70% sure of some more.....to take my score towards the target i took a big gamble (which i had hoped to avoid but couldnt) and resorted to some intelligent elimination based guesswork....ended up with 101 attempted.....
came home and studied a bit for gs which was a horror paper....similar adjustment saw me attempt 111 in gs instead of 90 odd i had planned...
answer keys took a long time coming but on consulting them (though i dont trust them and their reliability) i found app 70 correct in pol sci and some 72-75 in gs.........so i did not do as well as ni had hoped but was in this twilight zone....a little better and i would be confident of making it,a little worse and i would be confident of not making it...but,here i am bang in the middle ,gestating butterflies till three more months and a final confirmation........difficult to focus back on studies for now
